“Christine is the right leader,” says Rory Coetzee, MOWMP’s newly elected board chair. “Her vast nonprofit background, deep local ties, and business acumen have helped us grow by leaps and bounds.” Coetzee continues, “In this elevated role, she will focus on strengthening partnerships and strategic alliances, and expanding our local footprint in the fight against food insecurity.”

Since 2020, the organization’s operating budget has grown three-fold. Meal production has expanded from 108,000 per year to over 384,000 per year. The organization served over 1,100 homebound seniors, disabled adults, and veterans across Monterey County last year. In 2024, MOWMP volunteers surpassed the one-millionth volunteer hour while the organization has been voted Best Place to Volunteer three years running.

“I’m honored and grateful to the board for the opportunity to continue to lead this exceptional organization of creative, dedicated, and talented professionals,” says Winge. “We produce innovative, relevant, and insightful services every day, and our local impact is felt by many.”

Coetzee will steward MOWMP’s board of directors overseeing its community-based programs including Home Delivered MealsGroup Dining, and the Meals on Wheels Community Center. A native of South Africa, Coetzee immigrated to the United States in 1998 and attended Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth where he graduated with Cum Laude honors and received a Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in both Political Science and Paralegal Studies. As the founder of R.S.C. Law Group in Monterey, Coetzee dedicates his efforts to ensure that he represents all his clients with excellence, compassion, and knowledge of the law.

In addition to Winge’s new title, she will soon assume the role of board president at Meals on Wheels California (MOWCA), an advocacy nonprofit organization working to amplify the impact of its member programs by improving the lives of seniors, persons with disabilities, and their families through nutrition, resources, and connection.
