Pacific Grove, Calif. – July 10, 2025 – In light of the newly signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) introducing major changes to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula (MOWMP) is reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the individuals and communities it serves across Monterey County.
While the OBBBA presents uncertainty – particularly for seniors who are recipients of Medi-Cal and its ancillary programs – MOWMP’s mission remains unchanged.
“The reshuffling caused by the recent legislation underscores why our relationships in the community matter more than ever,” says Christine Winge, President and CEO of MOWMP. “No matter what challenges come our way, we are here – for our clients, for our partners, and for our community; we’re not going anywhere.”
MOWMP has proudly served local seniors and vulnerable adults for more than five decades. The organization remains as committed as ever to ensuring that every individual receives the nutrition, compassion, and dignity they deserve.
Winge continues, “Despite these policy shifts, we have no plans to change, diminish, or curtail the programs we provide our clients. As always, we believe that strength and solutions lie in collaboration.”
