CLASSIQUE GALA – Where Elegance Meets Generosity. Learn More

Pacific Grove, Calif. – January 12th, 2021 – Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula (MOWMP) announced today its partnership with Carmel Gives – a program launched by Tim Allen Properties with the Community Foundation for Monterey County – to support local restaurants and homebound seniors.

Carmel Gives encourages grassroots efforts to facilitate local community programs. These programs include the support of individuals and families impacted by local fires, mask making, and gift card distribution, among others.

Of Carmel Gives, Allen says “We are here to help, and by pulling together as a community we will come out of this even stronger.” He continues, “It is our goal to make an immediate impact and prepare for future needs with a fund that can be quickly applied in creative ways.”

MOWMP is a beneficiary of Carmel Gives’ Restaurant Food Production program aimed to support businesses in Carmel that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Local restaurants including Basil, Stationaery, Mission Bistro, Patisserie Boissiere, Pangea Grill, Flaherty’s, and Village Corner are preparing bulk meats, soups, and sauces to support the agency’s Home Delivered Meals program.

Volunteer drivers continue to deliver freshly prepared meals and socialization to homebound seniors and disabled adults across the Monterey Peninsula.

“We’re dedicated to strengthening our community and are tremendously grateful to Tim Allen, his team, and the restaurants of Carmel for providing additional nutrition for our clients,” says MOWMP’s Executive Director, Christine Winge. “We also thank Stevenson School for offering additional cold storage to help us meet the increased demand we’ve seen over the past 10 months.” Winge continues, “This is an excellent example of creative collaboration. When it comes to working towards a common goal, we’re stronger together.”
