CLASSIQUE GALA – Where Elegance Meets Generosity. Learn More

Pacific Grove, Calif. – March 24, 2022 – Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula (MOWMP) announced today it is now using solar power to help fuel its operations at the Meals on Wheels Community Center in Pacific Grove.

“For a nonprofit organization like ours, community care is full-time work,” said Christine Winge, MOWMP’s executive director. “Huge growth in meal production over the past two years has meant an increase in electricity usage; therefore, we decided to choose a more sustainable path moving forward.”

MOWMP is maximizing the Center’s roof space to fully utilize and generate first-rate solar output for the building. The system has a proven track record of reliability, performance, and output with a low operating temperature, which allows high energy generation equal to nearly 44,000 kWh annually.

MOWMP now has the ability to monitor its own energy production, consumption, and export levels, and can also check the amount of energy savings generated by the system in real time. Over a twenty-year period, the system will offset 680.9 tons of Co2 which is equivalent to 1,547,867 car miles driven and 10,212 trees planted.

Winge concludes, “Solar was the clear solution for us, and allowed for a seamless transition without any disruption to our production or programs.”
