CLASSIQUE GALA – Where Elegance Meets Generosity. Learn More

Pacific Grove, Calif. – July 2, 2021 – Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula (MOWMP) announced today its Executive Director, Christine Winge, was elected to the Meals on Wheels California (MOWCA) Board of Directors.

MOWCA is a state association that oversees advocacy efforts in tandem with Meals on Wheels America. Its mission is to create a unified voice for nutrition providers and broaden the impact of MOW programs to improve the lives of seniors, adults with disabilities and their families.

Winge is at the helm of MOWMP, the largest provider of nutrition and supportive services to homebound seniors and disabled adults on the Peninsula.

“Christine’s extensive experience in nonprofit management and her ability to guide MOWMP through the extraordinary challenges of the pandemic enables her to bring a unique and critical perspective to our Board of Directors,” says MOWCA Board Chair and Meals on Wheels of San Francisco CEO, Ashley McCumber. “Over the past year, MOWMP prepared and delivered more meals to more clients than ever before in its 49-year history. We are so appreciative of her willingness to contribute to our mission.”

Prior to joining MOWMP, Winge served as the Executive Director of Access Media Production (AMP). At AMP, she continued the long-standing tradition of successfully connecting the community via free speech and public access. Under her direction, the organization built two new studios and cultivated partnerships with other nonprofits to publicize their missions. Prior to her work at AMP, Winge was the Senior Director of Operations at the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum in Alameda, CA. Winge attended Stevenson School; UC Berkeley; and Santa Clara University graduating with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.

“Christine is widely known and respected throughout Monterey County’s nonprofit circles and has demonstrated innovative thought leadership and the ability to take MOWMP to the next level by collaborating with other area nonprofits,” says MOWMP Board Chair, Debbie Winick. “We are excited to see her share her insights, helping MOW programs statewide become stronger, so they can nourish more people in their areas.”

Of her board appointment, Winge says, “Meals on Wheels became a household name in the early 1970s, and there’s a great opportunity to come together as sister agencies and emphasize that we do much more than just deliver meals.” She continues, “I look forward to working with Ashley and the other members of the board to help MOWCA carry those values forward and build upon our rich and deeply rooted history.”
